Designed with flexibility and efficiency in mind, each unit is fully customizable to match your exact airflow, thermal performance, space constraints, and control requirements.
Whether you need precision cooling for a data center, cleanroom-level filtration for a hospital, or energy-efficient ventilation for a commercial building, our solutions deliver superior air quality, durability, and operational reliability.
Built-to-Order DX Packaged Unit for New and Replacement Projects
The Custom DX Packaged Unit is a single-package direct expansion (DX) system built to order from 10 to 250 tons of nominal cooling. Each unit is engineered to the airflow, capacity, footprint, and control requirements of its project, including drop-in replacements that land on an existing curb. The casing uses the thermally broken, low-leakage construction of the Custom Air Handling Unit.
10 to 250 Tons Nominal Cooling
Airflow, coil design, and compressor staging are engineered to the project mechanical schedule, with fixed-speed scroll, digital scroll, or variable-speed compressors and R-454B or R-32 refrigerant. Send the schedule, or the nameplate and curb dimensions of the existing unit, and Air2O returns a design datasheet that confirms capacity.
- 10 to 250 tons nominal cooling
- Fixed-speed scroll, digital scroll, or variable-speed compressors
- R-454B or R-32 refrigerant
- Electronic or thermostatic expansion valves
EC Fans, Optional Variable-Capacity Compressors
Direct-drive EC fans are standard, with motors up to IE5-level efficiency, and optional digital scroll and variable-speed compressors match capacity to the load. Three options cut energy use further: an air-side economizer with 0 to 100% outdoor air, heat recovery, and an adiabatic assist condenser.
- Direct-drive EC fans standard
- Motors up to IE5-level efficiency
- Optional air-side economizer, 0 to 100% outdoor air
- Optional heat recovery and adiabatic assist condenser
Drop-In Replacement and Custom Layouts
Units are built to the space available and the airflow direction required, so a replacement can drop onto the existing curb. Each project sets its own panel thickness from 1 to 4 in., access arrangement, filtration, heating, hot gas reheat, and integration with DOAS, VAV, or VRF.
- Built to fit an existing curb
- 208, 460, or 575 V three-phase power
- MERV 8 to MERV 16 filtration
- Optional electric, gas, or hot water heat
Native BACnet Control, A2L Leak Detection
A native BACnet DDC controller runs the unit, monitors performance, and handles safety shutdown, with A2L refrigerant leak detection and mitigation ventilation built into the sequence. It connects to the building management system over BACnet or Modbus and has a customizable operator display.
- Native BACnet DDC controller
- BACnet/IP or MS/TP, Modbus TCP or RTU
- A2L leak detection and mitigation ventilation
- Hand/Off/Auto override on every output
Thermally Broken, Low-Leakage Casing
A no-through-metal thermal break across casing, doors, and frames limits thermal bridging and exterior condensation, and with 4 in. panels, casing air leakage is within Class CL1 as defined in AHRI Standard 1350. Refrigeration features include compressor isolation valves, a replaceable-core filter drier, a suction accumulator, and a liquid receiver.
- Double-wall panels, R-6.5 to R-26
- Up to Class CL1 leakage, 4 in. panels
- Compressor isolation valves, replaceable-core filter drier
- Optional coil coating, hail guards, and aluminum base
Basis: Casing air leakage class as defined in AHRI Standard 1350, where CL1 is the most stringent class: a maximum of 1 CFM per 100 sq ft of casing at 1 in. w.g. reference pressure. Class CL1 was achieved in independent laboratory testing of a 4 in. panel casing at 8 in. w.g. negative pressure. AHRI certification is not claimed.
