EcoFlow
Custom Engineered Thermal Management Solution for Data Centers
One of Air2O leading projects which falls under the Air2O EcoFlow product category, this packaged solution up to 422Kw in size includes Water Side Economizer/Run Around Coil, Economizer/ DX trim, his project provided high quality, cost-effective solution for a co-location data center project located in North America.

EcoFlow is a packaged, closed-loop economizer system with DX trim for data centers, built in five sizes from 100 to 500 kW. It recirculates 100% of the return air and rejects heat to outdoor air, running compressors only when conditions require them. Units mount on a rooftop or a perimeter slab and run waterless or with adiabatic assist.
100 to 500 kW Nominal Cooling
EcoFlow is built in five nominal sizes from 100 to 500 kW, each with DX trim and R-454B refrigerant. Full economization rejects the load to outdoor air with the compressors off, hybrid mode adds DX trim when ambient conditions limit economization, and full DX mode runs on compressors alone.
- 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 kW nominal
- Full economization, hybrid, and full DX modes
- DX trim standard
- R-454B low-GWP refrigerant
Basis: Capacity in each mode at site design conditions is confirmed on the design datasheet Air2O issues for each project.
Calculated Annualized pPUE, 1.13 to 1.29
Calculated annualized partial PUE (pPUE) ranges from 1.13 to 1.21 with adiabatic assist and from 1.16 to 1.29 in waterless operation across sampled North American locations. Optional adiabatic assist runs in a power-saving mode that minimizes electrical use or a water-saving mode that evaporates water only when needed.
- Annualized pPUE 1.13 to 1.21, adiabatic assist
- Annualized pPUE 1.16 to 1.29, waterless
- Compressors off in full economization mode
- Optional adiabatic assist, power-saving or water-saving mode
Basis: Calculated annualized pPUE for a sample EcoFlow configuration at eleven North American locations, at 95°F hot aisle and 75°F cold aisle. Site results depend on cooling technology, climate, and load.
Four Cooling Technologies, Two Mountings
The cooling technology section is built with a run-around coil, a heat pipe, a plate heat exchanger, or indirect evaporative cooling, matched to the site climate and water availability. Mounting is rooftop or perimeter slab, and the heat rejection side runs waterless or with adiabatic assist.
- Run-around coil or heat pipe
- Plate heat exchanger or indirect evaporative cooling
- Rooftop or perimeter slab mounting
- Waterless operation or adiabatic assist
Automatic Mode Changeover, BMS Integration
A native BACnet DDC controller switches between full economization, hybrid, and full DX modes as ambient conditions change, and connects to the building management system over BACnet or Modbus. Local operation is from a 10 in. operator display, and remote access and a backup controller are optional.
- Native BACnet DDC controller
- BACnet/IP or MS/TP, Modbus TCP or RTU
- Automatic changeover between three modes
- Optional backup controller and remote access
Closed-Loop Air, Automatic Transfer Switch Standard
Return air is fully recirculated, with no outdoor air introduced into the data hall and no water evaporated into the supply air. An automatic transfer switch is standard, and the unit is built from commonly available components to simplify service.
- 100% return air, closed-loop operation
- Automatic transfer switch standard
- Commonly available components
- Packaged unit, ETL listed
