Lithium-ion battery manufacturing demands exceptionally strict temperature

Lithium-ion battery manufacturing demands exceptionally strict temperature and humidity control due to lithium’s extreme sensitivity to moisture. Even small amounts of excess humidity—from people, ventilation systems, or manufacturing processes—can degrade battery performance and compromise safety. To maintain product integrity, facilities require extreme low humidity (ELH) solutions capable of achieving very low dew points, ensuring that criticalproduction areas remain well below ambient moisture levels.

In a recent Midwestern U.S. project, 74 ELH systems were installed across three locations to support lithium-ion battery production. These systems maintain dew points between -38°F and -42°F in critical cleanroom areas, meeting ISO 8, ISO 7, or ISO 6 cleanliness standards required for electrode manufacturing. The solution incorporates desiccant dehumidification systems, thermal break panel construction, and robust DHU structural designs to ensure long-term environmental stability and precision.
